My name is Mark and I’ve been a Christian for 6 years now. I’ve tried my best to live my life for God by imitating how His Son Jesus Christ lived.. or at least that’s what I thought I was doing but to be honest it seems like there’s a lot of things that I think I’m missing.
It all started 3 years ago when an old man from another church randomly approached and gave me a prophetic and words of encouragement about the things that I’ll be doing in the future and how God is going to use me in tremendous ways. After that conversation, I walked away from that conversation encouraged, confuse and curious.
Fast forward. I grew in my walk with Christ, I learned a lot about Him and my identity and who I am in Him. The eternal blessings and riches that I’ve inherited because of what He has done on the cross for me. I’ve seen and experienced things both inside and outside the church that only Jesus has the power and authority to make those things happen such as healing, prophetic words, deliverance, providence, divine encounters, salvation and etc.
My curiosity and my hunger for Jesus grew even stronger over these past few months. There’s that sense of discontentment that I feel like I’m not exercising my faith to the fullest potential and that I feel like all this time I’m just scratching the surface of my faith. But few days ago, a good friend of mine spoke life, truth and encouragement to me and little did I know his words would completely rock my core and would completely change the way how I viewed myself in Christ and the things that He has called and allowed me to do through His power.
After our talk I strongly sensed that Jesus is challenging me to go further with him and to stretch myself and to really embrace my identity as one of His sons in His kingdom. Not just in a sense of biblical knowledge but to REALLY PUT THOSE KNOWLEDGE IN APPLICATION! God’s kingdom is about US participating in the gospel of Jesus Christ not just being observers or spectators. God’s heart is expressed in so many ways and sometimes in simplest forms like a smile, a hug, holding a door for someone, paying for someone’s coffee or food, giving them words of encouragement and praying for them. People desperately need to know that Jesus loves them through these simple and random acts of love.
One of the things I’ve been thinking about lately is this crazy truth that there’s so many people we pass up everyday single day and that God may have planned to purposely cross our paths right there and then for us to inspire them, encourage them, share Jesus and lead them to Jesus and yet a lot of times we pass by them?
So here’s the deal. Starting March of 2013 I’m going to genuinely take risks to just boldly pray for someone, meet their needs through physical healing, spiritual encouragement or whatever! I’m calling this MY COUNTLESS RISKS I found my inspiration from this guy. Basically starting in March of 2013 till the day I die, I’m gonna live my life full of risks. Taking ‘baby steps’ towards a life that looks like Christ. To step out of my way every single day. Learning to focus away from myself and to focus on an individual and love that person just like how Jesus loves us and then write a short blog about my encounters to possibly challenge you and encourage you in hopes that you would do the same. -
This isn’t a “legalistic list” approach or numbers game it’s really just me taking risks and step of faith and to throw all excuses and complacency outta the door. Jesus said if we believe Him then we will and we can do the same things He has done and even do greater things because He is going to the Father.
God reminded me that as a Christ follower, I don’t have to be special, unique, over qualified or gifted in order to reach someones hand and pray for their sickness or for their pain to go away. Jesus said that all we need to do is pray and believe that it would be done through His name and then we leave the rest in God’s hand. All it takes is making ourselves available and asking God to give us encounters. To allow our self to engage with people and give Jesus the opportunity to be who He says He is and to make much of Him through us as you engage with people.
He has paid the price, we have been set free from the bondage of sin and death and because of that we can walk with such freedom, power and authority all because of the fact that Christ lives inside of us. But more importantly that we would walk with compassion and love because that’s who Jesus is. In Christ there’s no fear, no timidity, no lukewarmness, no stubbornness none of that but only faith working through love. That’s the whole purpose of this challenge, to share Jesus’ love in a genuine, tangible and intentional way.
If you have any questions as to how exactly to do this, don’t be afraid to message me. Re-blog this so others can join us in this cause. And if you do join me please submit and share your story to me. There’s a link on my page. God bless!
