Have you ever felt so distant from God because of your sins?
Maybe you have this mentality of..
“I’m such’a sinner, I can’t approach God. I feel so ashamed. He will never forgive me for this. I’m never good at anything.”
I know I have those moments. It’s not you or me, it’s the enemy who’s feeding those thoughts and sometimes we listen and believe his lies. But our God isn’t like that.
The Lord is merciful & gracious, slow to anger & abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. - Psalm 103:8-10
Now THIS is our God!
Sometimes when I think about my sins and my ‘ways’ I can’t help but think,
“How can He still afford to love me, and take me back in? I don’t deserve Him and His love.”
God obviously knew we are all going to mess up at some point in life. He knows that we are sinful and imperfect that’s why He sent His perfect Son on the cross for us. Sure there’s consequences for every action that we make, but God is slow to anger and He doesn’t keep a record. He doesn’t base your righteousness by your works, but by faith in His son Jesus.
So instead of trying to make up to God by separating yourself from Him, and trying to earn that love again by doing some ‘super holy christiany things’, how about you run to Him and just ask for forgiveness. His arms are wide open, ready to take you back in.
Lastly, our motivation to please God should be driven out love and healthy fear, not to earn any favor or blessings.
True religion is when you seek and serve God, and get nothing else but more of God.
Grace & Peace,
