Mark Muldez

So you woke up this morning and your heart was just excited and what not and maybe you said,

Gosh, it’s ‘Valentines Day’! I can’t wait to spend time with my _______ today! It’s going to be flippin’ awesome! :)

Good for you, and I’m happy for you!
But for me, I see this so called special love day ‘Valentines Day’ as just another day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a hater or against it. I think it’s cool that people celebrate this day with the people that they love and care about.
I just think it’s silly that our society teaches us to celebrate and express our love, affection and admiration towards someone on a certain day instead of everyday. The fact that it’s this sorta ‘Holiday’ makes it look like our idea of love is inconsistent.
See when I woke up this morning, and everything seem so normal. But what’s different though is I woke up pondering on God and His goodness that He has given me another day, another life to live. He could’ve decided to not let me wake up and call me home with Him, (I’d love for that to happen, to finally meet my Maker) But the fact that I’m still here, living and breathing, That’s worth celebrating!

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:33

So if you’re a Christian and you’re reading this and you have a significant other, don’t wait for ‘valentines day’ to come before you take your partner out to dinner, or write notes, or do nice things. If you believe in God, if you believe in Jesus. When you really understand what He did for you on the cross, when He laid down His life on the cross for you and me, He took all your sins and my sins. He endured pain, suffering, beating, spitting, and persecution and death..
If you really understand the gravity of that, then you will understand what REAL LOVE IS. And you will do the same thing to your partner. You will lay down your life EVERYDAY and your personal and selfish desires for the sake of your partner. Putting them first, and forgetting yourself EVERYDAY, not just for one day.
P.S. - If you’re single, you don’t need a ‘Valentine’ to make you feel ‘loved’, You need God, and understand what His Son did for you on the cross coz that’s real LOVE.
