Have you ever had that feeling where you’ve been doing the same thing and it’s starting to get boring & old? It could be going to the same place, doing the same things, hearing the same song, same message at church or how about this..

.. eating the same food? yep.

Few days ago, a friend of mine gave me some of her chocolate cookies. And honestly, I’m not a fan of chocolate cookie. It’s not my main choice. It’s not that I don’t like it; but I’m tired of it’s taste. I prefer macadamia.. I’m just saying.

Anyways, when I took my first bite, for some reason, I was actually savoring its flavor. I let it melt in my mouth, and just enjoyed every bite of it. Trust me, It was kind of weird. And then it hit me…

How many times in my life have I read the same verses in the bible & simply just read His word and not be shaken, neither feel convicted nor challenged by His word. Or Listen to a sermon, and let it pass through my ear to the other. Or do the same thing Sunday after Sunday and becomes this ‘religious routine.’

I’m sure most of you had experienced this at some point in your Christian walk.

“Oh I’ve heard this message before, I’ve read this passage before, I already did this last Sunday. This is getting boring. I already know these stuff.”

Even before we actually read His word, or hear a message, we have already made these assumptions and we are getting ahead of ourselves and of God. If this is how we approach our Christian walks, if this is how we approach God, and if this kind of mentality and lifestyle keeps happening, we need to step back, check our hearts & re-evaluate ourselves. Because what’s happening is instead of serving God, we are serving ourselves.

Going back to that cookie, even before I took a bite, I already made this assumption,

“oh, this cookie again? I just had this couple days ago.”

But when I took that first bite, I changed my mindset, I was thankful that my friend brought me some treats, and just enjoyed every bite of it.

Just like the way how we approach God, and His word, or even the things we receive and the opportunities that we have. Instead of saying,

Oh, I’ve heard this before.. I have to do this again, etc.”

Let’s all remember to be thankful coz honestly, we don’t deserve anything that we have right now. We don’t even deserve this life that we have, we deserve death, but praise God for His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins!

Let’s change our mindset and approach God with a willingness heart and with a life expectancy manner. What would our lives would look like if we approach everything as if it’s the first time or it’s the last time?

Everyday is a new day, and God is doing something new in our lives EVERYDAY.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 2Corinthians 4:16
