Back in November of 2011, it was a Tuesday night. I was at Salvation Army with my Worship Pastor, along with some other people to help out and serve dinner to these men along with their families. It’s kinda like a “Thanksgiving dinner”. buffet style.
So basically these men used to be alcoholics & drug addicts. But Salvation Army has this program where they bring them in and bring them back to Christ. And at the end of the program, they prepare this huge dinner where all their families are invited, There’s prolly atleast, 300 of them. 300 guys were brought back to Christ! That’s a lot. Praise God for It’s really amazing.
One of the most powerful moments I’ve witnessed while I was there was just the look on these guys faces when they saw us. They were so grateful to see us, serving them and their families. Not one of these guys, look sad, or broken, they all look so joyful, and restored! It was really humbling to be part of their recovery and celebration.
Reminds me of that passage in Isaiah 25
On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine, the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth.
What I saw that night was like a FEAST. A celebration! After these guys fought their battle with addiction, finally they get to see their families and celebrate! I saw a glimpse of what a banquet looks like in heaven.
God, bringing His people and calling them home after fighting the good fight. To be in His presence, we are complete. No more pain, suffering, brokeness, weeping, or hurt. Everything is new, and everything is restored! Not just that, we are also going to be with other fellow believers! How exciting and breathtaking would that be?! It’s something worth fighting for, and worth looking forward to!
To finish this race, to fight hard, and to be with Him in eternity. Be blessed.
In Christ,
